In just over two weeks, on September 18 & 19 (Saturday at 6:30 p.m. & Sunday at 11:00 a.m.), Doctor Jan Kraybill - a grammy-nominated organist and curator of the renowned Kauffman Casavant Organ in downtown Kansas City - will perform on Liberal’s Largest Pipe Organ.
The list of musical compositions to be performed in the Liberal concert confirm that we are in for a treat! Masterworks of J S Bach (organist, choirmaster, and composer), popular songs to make our hearts sing ("The Twelfth Of Never" or "Here Comes The Sun"), great hymns of faithful people, and "favorites" of virtuoso organists — like Widor’s “Toccata” and Beethoven’s Ode to Joy!
Music became a main focus when the worship logistics team gathered to plan festivities in celebration of the enduring legacy of a 100+ year old sanctuary at Liberal’s ~ First United Methodist Church on Third Street & Grant Avenue. The church is also celebrating the Wick’s pipe organ that was installed in the sanctuary thirty years ago.
